I purchased a vintage 16" tenor a while back I was told at the time the drum was about 40 years old (circa -70's) and there was a good chance the heads on it were almost as old. Although I've had the drum stripped down since I got it, I wasn't ready to change the heads on it, so i just put the old ones back on.
When i had the drum stripped, I failed to notice the differences of the inside of this drum compared to the 2005 Premier I had previously been using. The lugs on this drum don't accommodate a modern drum key, I actually use a flat screw driver to tune the drum. I purchased new heads for it this week. Choosing Remo Power Max for the top and an Everplay for the bottom.......and they don't fit! The new heads seem to be a couple of millimeters (1/8 inch) too small. The new heads actually fit perfectly inside the rim of the old heads. My old DS thinks it may be because my drum was built under the Imperial measurements and the new heads are made in Metric (??) Any ideas on what heads would fit this drum? |

By the way your drum is probably a little older - these different sizes were made until 1968.
