There is no better feeling! I ordered a set of pipes last year, the excitement was all consuming!

Now to buy all the other stuff, reeds, covers, chords etc. You've still hours of fun to go!

I've done the band thing. It can be fun, and a pain in the derriere. Basking in the solo world just now and loving it. Do what makes you happy not what people tell you you should do.

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement! The pipe major of this particular band is aware that I intend to join their pipe corps once I'm up to snuff. The band practices quite a bit aways from me, hence why I haven't been to more practices or anything, although I hope to start making my way there in September or so!

My instructor is a fantastic solo and band player, and that's definitely the route that I plan on going! I've also dabbled in some composition and would love to teach some chanter students once I have a few more years under my belt.

I'm quite looking forward to it! My wallet on the other hand...
