From my experience teaching blind students (studying translation and interpreting), I believe that this kind of technology is called “assistive” or “adaptive” technology.

A quick Google (disability or adaptive + "musical instruments") turned up lots of hits, some of which look quite useful as a way of getting in touch with a technician.
