Default Youngest bagpiper?

This kid has it all down!

Maybe underblowing the pipes a tad, but heck, the bag is as big as he is!

The drummer looks like he could be Jim McGillivray's brother. LOL

And he's playing in 11/8.

One of those Balkan "additive rhythms" which in this case can be expressed as

2+2+3+2+2/8

I was out of a Highland Games and was chatting with some piper about Bulgarian and Macedonian music. He insisted that this music was random.

I told him it was perfectly regular, that it was DANCE music and therefore had to have a predictable beat for dancers to dance to it.

He said "I have a Doctorate in Music. I know rhythm. That music is just random."

I asked him how does he explain how groups of musicians and roomfuls of dancers perform this music exactly together? He had no explanation.

How can somebody get a Doctorate in music and not be able to count to 11? or 7, or 15? What an eejit.

One of my piano professors in my undergrad had a DM and couldn’t find beat one on the metronome if it was set to some sort of rhythm as opposed to just clicks.

Just because you have the knowledge, doesn’t mean you have the skill.

True.

This kid is amazing, he was probably born with a bagpipe...
