Default Re: Help me understand Piobaireachd

When I started learning the pipes, this one really spun my head around and has never let go:

The MacGregors' Salute - Jim McGillivray
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fv1Mq0Gz68

That was when I knew nothing about playing piobaireachd, its history, structure, expressive interpretation, knowing what to listen for, or how to appreciate it. But I knew that tune thrilled me. Years went by, and I slowly started to get more into it, thanks to some great instruction. My interest and desire to play piobaireachd then greatly increased - to the point where I’d lost interest in most light music (which I’m working to rectify), and all I really want to do is listen to and work on piob.

Go figure. I never expected that to happen. I guess I dig it.
