Awe thanks pip!

Iíve changed the ending. Itís now C D B birl A

Iím gonna keep it as a march and work the pulse issue out of the jig over time.

Iíll repost the dots when I get home (likely Wednesday night before band) So you can have an updated copy.

Of course you have full reign to pass it around and see what others think, I only ask if itís gonna be played publicly that you link me the video

tweaked it a bit, slowed it to 70, added some embellishments...

i do see what you mean about the marchy feel, this sounds quite nice as well

I like this and wish we could hear more of the likes of this - it's a bit different from the same old same old......

For sure! Any piper who has played loads of tunes will have a strongly-developed feel for the patterns associated with each tune-type and key (whether or not the composer realizes that tunes are in keys).

Some basic music theory will help explain the "why".

Oh don't I know it, the humbling experience of finding a composition I did a while back, which at the time I thought was good, only to discover its stunning mediocrity.

That's the true test: stumbling across an old composition and hearing it for the first time (in effect, because I've forgot all about it) and hearing if its any good.

I've written loads of tunes that are just plain dull, upon listening to them later. "Move along, nowt to see here..."

Also, a real bummer is composing a tune that has a nice lick in it (which I'm very proud of) and putting the tune in the drawer as Calum says, and later hearing some G1 band playing a new tune that has that same lick! If I play or publish my tune everyone is going to say "oh, he stole that lick from so-and-so". No-one knows or cares that I wrote mine ten years earlier.
