Default Notation to ABC

Are there any MacOs applications that can convert notation (.sib, .pdf, .mcz etc.) to ABC notation?

After doing a bit of research, it seems that .pdf to ABC notation wouldn't be possible without some incredibly advanced image processing techniques that I'm not at all knowledgable about.

Sibelius/Finale/MuseScore to ABC could be feasible, although (1) Still difficult to implement and (2) dependent on what metadata can be extracted for each element of a sheet music file.

PDF is just an image format in document form. There are systems for OCRing notation but you pay for what you get.

For other formats, generally the easiest approach is to go through MusicXML, I think.

I'll have to look into it. I was specifically thinking of cases where a Python music library could be used to create a free/open-source tool with the functionality that Bob described.

I'm not terribly familiar with MusicXML, but I'll give that a look too. Thanks for the suggestion.
