Default What is this tune? (from Allan MacDonald and Seonaidh MacIntyre)

I keep trying to figure out the spelling of the name of the tune to search for it, but I can't figure it out. They mention the tune's name at about 0:54 in.

Based on the description it seems something like fairy crooning? Sídhe as in banshee? Crooning = crònanach? I could be totally off base.

He said “Tha sior cóineadh” (there is constant wailing) not “am sìthe crònan” (the fairy’s crooning). The tune is Tha Sior Cóineadh am Beinn Dóbhrain – There is Constant Wailing in Ben Doran.

Tha sior cóineadh am beinn Dóbhrain
Tha gal is cóineadh ‘sa bheinn ud thall
Tha glaodh mo laoigh ‘sa bheinn ‘sa bheinn
Tha gal is cóineadh ‘sa bheinn ud thall
Tha glaodh mo laoigh ‘sa bheinn ‘sa bheinn
Tha sior eubhach ‘s a bheinn ud thall

Cheers –

Wes

After I posted, I got the feeling that something was amiss, so I checked my original source and realized it had some grammatical errors. The lyrics should actually be tha sior chaoineadh ann beinn Dobhrain. Many Gaelic collections are amassed by English Speakers and grammatical/spelling errors are legion. You can find the lyrics online:

The online source was not my original source btw.

Thanks for the update! I'm wondering if Seonaidh and Allan arranged the tune themselves. I can't find any sheet music for it online, unfortunately.
