For light music:
Balmoral Highlanders, The 71st Highlanders, The Marchioness of Tullibardine, Gul Fhn (Fingal's Weeping), The Bloody Fields of Flanders, The Battle of Waterloo, Donald MacLean of Lewis, Bonawe Highlanders, Cabar Fidh, Susan MacLeod, The Shepherd's Crook, Maggie Cameron, Calum Crbach, Take Your Gun to the Hill, The Devil in the Kitchen, Cta Mr Ealasaid, The Night We Had the Goats, Miss Proud, The Sheepwife, Little Cascade, The Snuff Wife, The Thornton Jig, Angus Sutherland, John Paterson's Mare, Donald Cameron's Powder Horn, The Millstead,The Man From Skye, John MacKenzie's Fancy

for cel mr:

Lament for the Viscount of Dundee, Lament for Donald of Laggan, The Earl of Seaforth's Salute, Lament for Mary MacLeod, Maol Donn (particularly with pared back cadences and the urlar in 6/8 time--I can't hear it in my head any other way now)

Well, that went off the rails quickly. I guess I have a few more favorite tunes than I thought... And more than a few tunes that I need to brush up on.

Yeesh, all that and I forgot the one tune that I was originally going to post. If I had to pick just one, I guess I'd say the reel "The Lads of Mull."

Way to many to choose from but 6/8 marches like Donald McLean of Lewis and Rab's Wedding. Good heavy meaty tunes! However I think that in combination, Royal Scots Polka and the Black Watch Polka are two of the finest tunes ever written. I'm also a fan of old school jigs but again too many to count...
