Default How long to "un-learn"?

My wife recently finished her elementary education degree (at 46!) and is now teaching 6th grade reading. I helped her along the way as she was an online student. We go back and forth with ideas of the best way to teach kids, what works best for certain types, etc.
An interesting stat in one of her books: it takes 8 correct repetitions to properly 'learn' something new, but 28 correct repetitions to un-learn the wrong way and re-learn the correct way.
What a great stat to have on hand when you hear students fudging their embellishments!
In the end, what we all have known all this time is validated: it's best to learn properly the first time.
