I was so startled I made some note errors, but didn't break down. I was furious with the steward for allowing this to happen.

At this same HG, in the Grade II competition, an older woman walked up while a competitor was playing and started hollering at Jimmy MacGregor, who was judging, asking him for start times of various activities. Again, no steward in sight. Very poor organization.

Yikes;...reminds me in the ‘80’s of Maxville Games when the caber toss steward decided to crank up the chainsaw right behind a competing band's circle.
I think they’re still trying to get the poo stains out of a lot of those kilts.

I can't think of any specific instances that stand out. Just the usual stupid stuff: letting my mind wander, resulting in blooters, forgetting which tune was selected in an MSR or S/R, missing a repeat or adding an extra one. Particularly in a piobaireachd, I'd occasionally stop rather than wasting another ten minutes of a judge's time if I knew I'd put myself out of a contest. Having come up playing cane reeds, I had the occasional bass drone stop or the pipe just wander out of tune. S**t happens. Every long-term competitor has had the occasional breakdown.
