Default VE75 Cancelled/Postoned

I just received an email from Bruno Peak, organizer of the VE 75 celebrations:

(Just in case anyonen interested didn't get it)

Dear Participants,
I am afraid that the terrible Coronavirus emergency and consequent Government guidance means that we must advise participants to cancel or postpone the majority of the VE Day 75 community celebrations due to take place on the bank holiday weekend of 8th - 10th May. It is right and proper that people should be kept safe and healthy.
My sincere thanks to everyone who registered their events and were looking forward to celebrating VE Day 75. I know how disappointed you will be that these cannot now go ahead as planned. However, we are still encouraging solo pipers and town criers to continue to mark the occasion from a safe and suitable location.
I am hoping that all the events you have carefully planned can be moved to the weekend of 15th - 16th August when we will be able to celebrate VE Day and VJ Day, both momentous points in our history. I am in ongoing communication with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport regarding this and hope to be able to give you more news in the coming days.
With my very best wishes,
Slainte Leibh/ Slan Leat, Bob Cameron

Greetings to All,

Having registered... I... too... received this notice.

As I made mention in a previous Thread... perhaps...
we can mark this very important occasion... as I then
referenced Saint Patrick's Day... with our playing more
on our own... and semi-privately... and in relative... and
"safe social distance"... for the good of our public's health.

There is a small military cemetery... about 40 miles away...
and with the funeral services there... which I have played
over a rather long time... it is almost... always... completely

So I shall go... and play there...

Because the tale is told... that the Old Celts knew... that
of all the sounds... that Mankind could make... only the
pipes... could be heard in both Worlds.

Where e'er we may choose to go... or are called to go... let
us all... comport ourselves properly... and play safely.

Regards... and Wishing Safety... and Good Health... to All,

My friends all know,
With what a brave carouse...

While the event proper is postponed, or canceled, we may be allowed mark the date in other ways depending upon how various jurisdictions allow travel.

Many cities have small parks or squares set as war memorials to specific conflicts. 1 lone piper, performing a short 3 piece set, might spark some curious glances and questions. But a small white board or equivalent set a safe distance off can explain the nature of the short interlude and would allow the curious to know what is transpiring without violating social distancing requirements.

It wouldn't be the larger memorial some may prefer, however the thought expressed should send a distinct message.
Breaching the peace? What bagpipes officer?
