Default Mostly Retired

Some months ago I decided to retire from piping gigs. I took down my website and had my land line disconnected. Only my cell number and internet are active. It turns out to have been the right decision at the right time. I have only a few gigs left to do and this fall they will be behind me.
After my wife passed away last year I knew I would be making changes. I enjoy living alone and life is easy without booking gigs. I have returned to photography and am doing well. in the 1980's and into the 90's I had
a studio in downtown St.Louis. I don't need it now as I have converted my living room into a studio with an attached dressing room (former small bedroom) that opens into the studio.
I still play the pipes but only for fun. Life is good without performance pressure. I hope this update finds everyone doing as well as can be done under today's restrictions. Stay home, stay safe and enjoy piping.

Davie - didn't know about your wife. Condolences on your loss and may your heart be filled with wonderful memories.

Best wishes to you on this transition. I guess those buckle brogues and all that saffron will be put away. Well done Piper.

Be well Brother.

Thanks for the posts. I was in hope that a Mod would see this and move it to the Beer Tent.

Sometimes it just seems right to make a change, even one that a few years ago we couldn't have imagined doing. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your wife; may many fond memories cheer your heart. Piping is still piping and a valued activity whether in front of other or for our own pleasure. Blessings to you!!

Ah, Dave,

So many memories... and connections...

Remembering our mutual Good Friend and
Teacher... Peter Sullivan... and how he piped
well on into his years... as now have you!! :) ...
and how sometimes... and just before The
Irish Shamrock Bagpipe Band would begin
a new set... on Saturday nights... in The Old
O'Connell's... on Gaslight Square... he would
shout out... Shan Ballagh Mor! (sic? :) meaning
something along the lines of... "A Great Way
Forward!"... and now... you... and again... are
to begin yet another... "Great Way Forward!"...
in your Life!!...

Wishing for you... All the Very Best!!... as you
now make ready to embark... on perhaps a
quieter... but memory-rich Time... and always...
with The Music...

With my warmest regards,

Pip01

Thank you pip01. If I remember correctly I think it means the Great Old Way or Great old Road. No matter as Pete would always try pulling your leg with a story before telling the truth. HAHA.

Many condolences Dave. And all the best with this new change of direction. Less stress sounds good and so does the quiet and rearranging things a bit. Take care and all the best.
