Default PM James C. Caution

James Clark Caution (1922-2007) was apparently P/M of one of the RAMC units in the 1950s; does someone know which unit and when (year from-to)?
Thanks
Aad

Hi Aad, I've probably got more information somewhere but am preparing to move house at the moment so it'll be packed away.
Jim Caution was P/M of the RAMC TA unit based at Brompton Road Drill Hall London in the 1950s and quite possibly into the sixties. I'm pretty certain that he succeeded Bob Hill (ex A&SH).
Jim was possibly responsible for teaching more Pipers in the London area than anyone else in the period from 1950 up until his death about 15 years ago, including forumites such as Roger Huth and Neill Mulvie.

At the moment I have Bob Hill listed as P/M of 57 (Middlesex) General Hospital from 1960 to 1967 when it merged to become 257 (Eastern) General Hospital, with Bob Hill still P/M to 1968 when Gordon K. Speirs took over. I understand that the band was disbanded in 1969.
Was Jim Caution P/M of 57 (Middlesex) General Hospital before Bob Hill?

I remember there were a couple of obituaries published when he died - you might like to ask the good folk at the Piping Times.

Oddly enough, his listing at https://www.musicteachers.co.uk/user...f28f596f9a37e2 is still active and that gives his PM dates at the RAMC as 1952-58.

After a bit of digging, I managed to find his memoirs which were on his site on the Internet Archive:

Thanks for that information. In his memoirs Jim Caution says that he left the band in 1959 and although he does not mention it, I assume that he was P/M of 57 (Middlesex) General Hospital.
That still leaves one question: did Bob Hill take over from him in 1959 or 1960?
Thanks
Aad
