Default MMMmmmm Cheap Beer....

All this talk of poaching and Pakistani pipes has made me thirsty! Anyone have a favorite cheap beer? How 'bout a name for it? I like Lost Lake, brewed in Minnesota. grew up calling cheap beer "Natty" and "Natty Light".

I brew my own stout in my basement. Costs about $7 a case. Just got a Guinness tap setup...makes the beer that much better.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH! What a coincidence,..."cheap beer". I just read this thread while opening up my American Express bill,....my last two trips to the pub cost me $166.36 !!!

Will someone please introduce me to the "cheap" beer?

I can't stand cheap beer. Free beer is different!

But when I was a little younger it was Natty BoomBaLatty (natural light) or The Beast (milwaukee's best)
PC Load Letter, what the #$%@ does that mean!?

We went through a phase of trying to find the worst beer. The worst we found was called Old German and was $5 a case. Today that would be $7.50 a case. It was sure to cause a hang over.

We did drink the Beast also.

Ahh,takes me back to my college days. Some of my favorites are as follows: Natural Ice, this stuff, unlike Natty Light, will knock your D*@# in the dirt. Carling Black Label, very good and very cheap if you could find it. Schlitz,(not the malt liquor)it seems they've gone back to the old way of making it and it's pretty good. I do remember about 8 years ago buying Hamm's for around $7 a case, pretty decent. Also, Mickey's Malt Liquor, in the "Grenade" bottles, not really the cheapest per volume, but lots of bang for your buck. Those 12oz. wide mouth bottle are great for swilling.

You have a Guinness tap setup? Are you distributing beer using a nitrogen or possibly a real hand pump unit? I brew beer as well, but every time I ask about using a hand pump or nitrogen no one really has a good answer for me. Would be interested to hear what you mean. Or are you just talking about a handle.

Around here for cheap beer, we drink Straub. It tastes like a can of corn, but not bad on a hot summer day. It has no sugar, salt or preservitives and is pretty clean beer really. They had a born on date as long as I can remember due to its short shelf life. The Straub brewery is a funny place. They shut down for hunting season.

Am I gonna date myself now!

Back when I was in college in Texas there was Buckhorn beer.
The grocery stores would put it on sale for .99 a six pack!
We used to have Buckhorn parties.
It wasn't that bad once you got the first four or so cans down.........

Home brewing, I understand.

But why in the Wide World of Good and Responsible! (kids may be reading this) Drinking would anyone be seeking cheap beer?

Sure, pubs hereabouts have evenings like "Tightwad Tuesdays" or "Miser Mondays". But that's for good beer at reasonable prices. Different connotation than "cheap beer"...and a far cry from some of the suggestions I've just endured.
