Default Embelishments or not

I have been asked to play, as a surprise guest , for a golf association dinner with many Bretons present. I would like to double the surprise for the organiser and be able to play the undernoted tune which is the anthem of Brittany and incidentally also of Wales .
My question ;
Should I play it as written or should i put some embellishments in ? If so what and where?
I do not want to deform the tune and cannot find on the web a decent recording to help decide brfore practising .
Tune is
Bro Goz ma Zadoù (Vieux pays de mes pères)
And is found in partitions.bzh
Sorry i am not allowed to post with attachments

I think leaving embellishments out will help the tunes be identified and enjoyed. May want to put in an occasional high g grace note to demarcate the start of a phrase.

I'm more concerned about the fact that it's in a major key, so you need G to be sharp. Perhaps one of our Breton members could chime in but it seems to me to do musical violence to the tune.

As for embellishments, yes, of course, you should whatever is comfortable and appropriate.

Typically when I am trying to cover a known tune, embellishments tend to just find their way into my playing because I am used to playing them. And like John mentioned, they can help separate parts of a song, or certain notes.

I would just start working on the tune and let your brain, ears, and fingers naturally find what feels right.

My suggestion would be to listen to the anthem and decide what if any embellishments could be played

Play it how it feels/sounds right to you.

You might check out some Breton bagad band videos on YouTube and pick up some simple Breton tune that they play - might be preferable to distorting the 'national anthem' which doesn't quite fit the bagpipe.

There are settings of the tune for "cornemuse" online.
