Default "Those Bloody Kilts" new book

Here's a new book of interest to those here -- highly recommended!! Well
illustrated, too.

https://www.amazon.com/Those-Bloody-Kilts-Highland-Wolverhampton/dp/1912390264/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?crid=16NYSSUALSNWP&keywords=those +bloody+kit&qid=1560132434&s=books&sprefix=those+b loody+kilts%2Caps%2C205&sr=1-1-fkmr1

The Amazon review for once is genuinely informative and comprehensive.

I should add that there is a full chapter on the role of the bagpipe and pipers.

thank you Piper for making the publication of this book more widely known. I must say that it had slipped under my radar, probably because I am more interested in the period prior to 1800.

Having now read the book I can say that it is a very good piece of research. Given the topic to say it is enjoyable is not the best description especially regarding the 2nd World War, but it certainly can be described as educational in regard to correcting a number of 'myths' about Highland Regiments. Indeed it confirms the fact that by that time, (and for some decades before) the use of the description 'Highland' had generally become very distant in connection to any form of the original Gaelic worlds.

One more item connected to the book, has at least so far as I can see also slipped under the radar is the recent death of Di Henderson. Her work on the history of the Highland Regiments was in fact credited and well used by the author of the above work,

Greetings, piper909, and to All,

As well as the link to the purchase... and thank you
for it... the lengthy description given of the complete
contents of the book... is also a fine read... and I can
most hardily recommend it.

Regards to All,

Pip01
