Default PM spam, sorry

Well, it finally happened, a 'new member' joined, and started using the Private Message (PM) tool of the Forum software to send out spam. (Spam that was a clear violation of our rules too) This is the first time we've seen PMs used as a spam tool, and the joke is, I'm sure on him - this community tends to not like spam .

I don't know if it was manually sent, or if he hired a programmer to automate it.. I hope it was the former, but there was from what I can tell, quite a lot sent.

It is a tough balance we try to achieve here.. easy access, easy to join, easy to get fully involved - balanced by maintaining a somewhat private forums. No search engines can get past the home page of the forums, so the only (!) threads that may be seen by search engines are those listed in the home page when they (search engine) scanned us. PM, member names, email addresses, are all only available to members. And while most sites like search engines, and the traffic they can bring, here we're not interested - people seem to find us, and we have our own form of privacy.

There could always be a risk of PM for spam, but as this has only happened one time, I don't think we (I) need to worry too much.
