Default how to search BDF properly?

Hi,

So today I thought I would look for threads on the principles behind constructing sets - like putting tunes in the same key together, or not.

If I search for 'tunes' or 'set' - well I'd reckon the majority of the threads on this forum probably have those words in at some point

But it won't let me search for "tune set" i.e. both words together as a unit. I don't know that much about searching on the web, beyond google, but i think it lets me use the inverted commas.

Is there something obvious that I'm missing, or a way to search the forum in a more focussed way?

usually easier to use google instead. type into google search bar:

search terms site:forums.bobdunsire.com

will only give you results from bobdunsire.

google will also let you put quotes around things if you want them together so

"tune set" site:forums.bobdunsire.com

I entered "tune set" and got results on threads with "tune", "set" and "tune set" in them. The forum and sql system underneath all this doesn't allow 3 character searches, but if you encapsulate them in quotes you can make it work.

thanks very much for both these replies.

I think I'd heard before about a way to make google searches site specific. I reckon I'll find this useful beyond BDF.

Also, I sit corrected on the question of 'tune set' coming up in the search results - I guess I hadn't gone through enough of them to see the phrase appear. It also confirms that the quotation mark approach does work.

I hadn't considered that in addition to being a common word on these forums, 'set' was a three character word and would have that other complication.

You might also search "Competition MSR"

If there are a lot of threads that aren't what you want, but they include a phrase that would not occur in the one you want, then you can use the minus sign in google to exclude things

-"highland wedding" for instance
