Default Road to the Isles plus ????

Greetings

Our band is looking for a good tune to pair with Road to the Isles. We are a community band that does numerous parades thru the year so consistent tempo between tunes is a consideration for us - however what we lack in skill we make up for in enthusiasm.

Many Thanks

How about the 51st Highland Division at Wadi Akarit?

A nice little jaunty tune with a similar feel but would pair up well, I think.

Greetings,

In my first band... and damned-near back
to... "When Steam Was King!"... we followed
"Road to the Isles" with "The Barren Rocks
of Aden"... and whether On Parade!!... or just
standing about... and playing... in a pub...

While "Barren Rocks" seemed a bit more... up
tempo... they always seemed to go well... fit
well... together... and in that order...

Now... "The Barren Rocks" ain't heard much...
anymore... and your lot might have to learn
it... as a "new tune"... but I thought I'd chuck
it out there... anyway... as I think it worth... a
proper go...

One other... not huge... but still very important
matter... Your lot's remarked upon enthusiasm...
is a grand and glorious attribute... and oft times...
will carry the day!! (Just keep after it!!)

All the Best!!

Pip01

79ths Farewell to Gibraltar would be my pick.

Are you playing the 2 part version of Road to the Isles? If not, there are 4 part versions out there. I just saw one on Jack Lee's website. Maybe that could be your 'plus'?

I like to change keys.

Road To The Isles is in the key of D Major, so the first thing I would do is look at tunes that were in any key other than D Major.

Since there are endless tunes in A, it shouldn't be a problem!
