Default What can we do about fires in Australia?

Greetings to All,

This is probably best aimed at our Moderators... or
to any else... who may know how best to proceed.

The question is... have we, on the Forum... anything
afoot... to help our friends... in Australia... with their
ravaging brush fires?

Remembering that much was done here... to help
with the statue for Bill Millin... I thought that I would
pose the question.

I have thought to e-mail to my contacts there... but
thought that they most probably... already had more
than enough... on their plates already.

All thoughts... ideas... and guidance... shall be most
gratefully accepted.

Regards to All,

Pip01

Many thanks for the concern. The fires have been devastating this year. I know of at least two pipers who have lost their homes and everything in them. A few companies have donated some goods to help them out. McCallum Bagpipes have been particularly generous as always.

Pipe Bands Australia is running a fundraiser to help victims of the fires and will draw names to give away bagpipes and products donated by McCallum Bagpipes. The link is here:https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=595408&

I know everyone here appreciates the concern shown by our friends overseas, and particularly the firefighters who have travelled here to help out. Tragically a number have lost their lives. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid.

You owe us nothing. There is no debt. A simple nod of the head, and a "thank you" is all that's required. We in North America known darned well that you would be here in a heartbeat to support us if the tables were turned. All the best to those in Oz who are dealing with this tragedy. Our hearts and minds are with you.

Scot.

They have been nothing short of catastrophic, the best advice I can think of is,pray that you don't get them!
(But your kind thoughts are appreciated down under)

Greetings to All,

Having now had a bit of chat with some of the
lads from Way Down Under... I now have some
information on some of their views... about some
of the better avenues of approach... for donations
to both help in the recovery... as well as help with
their still fighting the fires.

As well as the generosity of MacCallum Bagpipes
in assisting pipers who have lost their instruments,
there are other direct organizations... who are now
delivering direct help to all of those in need... and
their organizations may be found on the internet.

To help directly with the Fire Departments of New
South Wales and Queensland... their two dedicated
link addresses are as follows:

New South Wales: nsw.gov.au

Queensland: qfes.qld.gov.au

There is also the Rural Fire Service: ruralfire.qld.gov.au

Doing tremendous direct good for the population are the

Salvation Army: salvationarmy.org.au

and

the Australian Red Cross: redcross.org.au

The BBC News Service has maps showing the great
geographical range these fires cover and consume.

In this matter... Time... is of great... importance...

Let us see... what we can do...

Regards to All,

Pip01
