Default International Bagpipe Day

International Bagpipe Day? Anyone ever hear of it? Had a request to play a gig on March 10 because it is International Bagpipe Day.

I think it's only 4 years old. Being at a university, we have a celebration with a highland piper (me), English border piper (Roger Landes), and uilleann pipes (Jon Milton, I think) in the student union, and then I think there's a Carlos Nunez concert that night!

If we're out of our local ice age by then, I might do something about it

Here's a link: http://www.bagpipesociety.org.uk/ You'll see links to it a the top of the page.

I'd love to hear Carlos Nunez live. He's a fantastic musician! Hope you got your tickets.

Apparently it was 10 March in 2013 and 8 March in 2014. No information on date for 2015 on the site.

Well I did play my uilleann pipes for an hour or so yesterday, just in the house, some woodshedding for a church gig this Sunday.

It warmed up enough for me to play on my unheated, but enclosed, front porch with the window open. As it was International Bagpipe Day, I started with a French tune, then several Irish tunes, some Lowland tunes, some Highland tunes, one German tune and some of my own tunes
