Hi Michael,

The easiest drone to get a drone to G is likely on your tenor A drone. The physical amount of extension you need will be smaller compared to the bass. If you cant extend the top far enough to get to G, you could try your bass drone top on the tenor (as Nate mentioned) or add an extension tube (as Klondike and Patrick mentioned). If you dont have ready access to brass tubing, you can experiment with a piece of plastic drinking straw. Once you get the drone note close, you can fine tune, by ear, to D on your chanter.

I am sure this is possible on Border Pipes too but the cross fingering will not solve all the tuning issues in the scale by itself.
