Default Sarah's Song...

A while back...there was a thread on here that mentioned this lovely tune..was in fact a updated version of a old American folk tune...something like "she was young and bonnie....".etc,,,!!now in discussion last night regarding this ...no one believed me....did I dream this or.....!!

It's not American - it's a slight variant of the late 19th century English music hall song "She was poor but she was honest" aka "She stood on the bridge at midnight". Most variants (of which there many) are pretty filthy - it started out that way. You could get away with more on a Victorian music hall stage, with nobody but a local working class audience watching, than you can on present-day TV.

You will certainly have heard it before, and so will Cunningham. Probably unintentional plagiarism, but he might have the grace to admit to it now.
