I told my wife that when my time comes that I wanted her get one of those "yard a pult" things (Saturday Night Live) and just put me in it and fling me a few houses down into their yard. I will then be their problem.. She is to join some friends at the pub and drink a few pints. I have a friend who will be singing rebel tunes and that's that.

Lighten Up Francis, we ain't getting out of this world alive... and with that said... and after much light hearted consideration & keeping in mind I am weary , also weary and contemptuous of Amazing Grace and other similarly religious tunes now. The following tunes in an upbeat tempo and no particular order:

Dark Island; Green Hills of Tyrol; Mo Ghillie Maer; Mist Covered Mountains; Caissons (Army Tune);

o A choral group singing "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" as the Casket gets escorted to it's final spot.

o A pipe band that is well lubed (Single Malt Irish Whiskey) playing Taps, followed by Sergeant Mackenzie as I'm deposited on site.

o A cracking party and session afterwards where the guests can be as ribald and profane as they desire in toasting my departure. And if there is one person shedding tears and crying they get designated as the Keener to keep it up in a room shut away from the Bon Voyage Party.

o And as a final tune on the pipes to signal the end of the festivities... St. Patrick's Day.

o As a final act, my bagpipes will be gifted to the youngest beginning pipers voted most worthy by the drunken Pipe Majors and Pipe Sergeants in attendance. But only after the young pipers have play solos of Irish and Scottish Rebel Tunes for the competition.

Cheers ya hairy arsed, skirt wearing and chasing lot of hooligans.

Make sure they put a white silk scarf, leather helmet and aviator goggles on you just to add to the confusion. Or an unopened parachute.

Since we don't have music at the actual burial, or in the 7-day mourning period, in our tradition, this is for afterward, maybe after one month. The tune may be a little too mournful for some, but in my part of Asia such tones are not sad in any Western sense. Hard to explain.

Yosef Hassid Achron's Melodie for Violin and Piano

To be followed, after a strategic pause, by a large, well-tuned pipe band playing Crossing the Mensch, preferably in a Gordon Walker setting.
