That performance was entirely too long and the crowd didn't seem interested at all. Who did he play with?

Must have been a different crowd that cheered him off at the end!

It was a recital. What did you you expect him to play?

John Keogh had an awesome corps. 2 eras of SLOT stick in my mind as my favourites - John Keogh's and Stephen Crighton's! Awesome, fun and musical!

These videos are priceless heirlooms.

could have been a small crowd not sure. can't imagine the performance being any shorter it was a recital. he had some strange material but could play the stuff. this medley is also on "Intercontinental Drummer's Fanfare" from years ago, also with performances from Andy Scullion, Paul Turner and JR Maxwell. You're right Scott stuff like this is priceless. scary to think that's 17 yrs ago! Thanks

The video is just one small part of a much larger recital at The Helm Hotel, Crookshaven,Co.Cork in October 1990. The set played is one of the SLOT medleys from the same year.
Also performing on the night was the current SLOT lead drummer,Stephen Creighton.......
He also played a medley and a drum salute - and here's part of it..

Stephen on youtube

John Keogh was one of the best and most musical drummers I ever had the pleasure of playing with......and I'm a piper !

Yes, Scott.....I agree, they really are priceless herilooms......glad you appreciated them.

If you want to see more - check out the SLOT website......click on the "SLOT Video" link when you get there.

I would have to echo what Ronan said. Johnny was definitely the most musical drummer I ever played with. As a piper his scores were just a joy to play with. Great days indeed Ronan.
