I'm looking for a grade 4-5ish Steam Train arrangement.
Do you have one that you are willing to share? I'm looking at one that is very square. Not a dot cut to be seen. Straight RLRL all the way through and it makes me want to barf. Thanks. I would appreciate any help. Cat

Since the tune is straight 16th/8ths patterns, I think you want a straight drum score, not a dot-cut.
Jut my opinion. GLENN

But sliding a dot cut into the phrasing might just funkify some of the sustained piping parts that are actually held for an eighth note span. I'd have to see the pipe score to see if this were possible. You know, make things a bit more interesting than your usual ratatatata fair you hear in so many round hornpipes and reels. But then again you have to remember the ensemble judge standing there behind you thinking, "what on earth are they doing?"

That was the difficulty I was having -- keeping it square or dot-cutting in a pattern which could be repeated to replicate the train sound. I was hoping to find something that is dot-cut but in a way that still pulls in the train sound by its sheer repetition.
With the score that I have, it is all 8th and 16th and just feels wrong but it could just be me. I was also looking for something that builds through the three movements and three speeds of the train -- or however many the pipers play -- so the last one is the chugga-chugga with full sound and full drums. Keep talking. You're talking about what I'm thinking about. Please.
