Wow! The Hamon reeds are steady and have lots of "presence." I've always liked the sound of the Gibson chanter and the look of the Fireside pipes but now with Seth's drone reeds I have a solid bagpipe here!

I just took delivery of a set of Hamon drone reeds, purchased because of the recommendations on this forum, for my Firesides.
Add my name to the list of happy customers. The reeds are easy to work with, pitch-stable, and have excellent tone quality. I'm glad to have found them and appreciate the recommendations. |

I also use his drone reeds a good step up. I am still having problems getting the right pitch. I am also trying out the Apps practice chanter cane reed with some success . What is everyone pitching at with their fire sides?

![]() Concert pitch for C (above middle C) is 523.251 Hz 451 Hz would be almost half way between A and B flat ![]() So how is that a C chanter?

I'm using a Korg CA40 tuner. The light is green when I set it to 451 hz, and the note reads "C" when I play a low A. I'm not sure what that translates to in actual pitch. Rich |

Hi Klondike Waldo,
So after thinking about it. concert A is 440 hz c is 523.251 hz so C is 83.251 hz above A So I set my tuner for A to equal 451 hz. It reads C which should be 451 + 83.251 Making the pitch 534.251. Is that correct ? thanks, Rich |

I would take the ration of A=451/A=440 (1.025) and multiply that by concert C at 523.251 which would come to 536.33, so just a bit sharper.
