Default Drum Major goes for a drink

After the Warrior's Day parade at the CNE, there is a massed band in Fort York Armoury. Part way through, a Drum Major makes a speech and then goes off to the side for a drink. This was obviously planned as the drinks were delivered.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Drum majors are gods. They can arrange anything. Having drinks delivered is a mere nothing to them.

It was his last parade before "hanging up the mace".

I happen to know that this was not his first 'last' parade. This stunt has been pulled before.

Never, have I seen someone arrange their own farewell, "3 cheers for me!" That is usually done as a sign of respect from their peers/coworkers.

Mr Stark completed his last parade as Sr Drum Major in Orillia with class. He marched the band's off the field, and at the dismiss, announced that was his last time. No fanfare, no muss. If his band, or the Festival organization had publicly recognized his contribution that would be appropriate. Announcing your own is just wrong.

Yes, I know this was a "second go around", I was appalled while on the floor but it was unstoppable while in progress. Over, done and gone.
