Default A-pipes

Iím trying to identify the right instrument for silent practice. I have a Fagerstrom, which I love and take with me everywhere I go. Itís great for learning new tunes and killing time. However, Iíd like a silent chanter I can also use more intensely for exercises, technique development, etc., while traveling. I donít need the capacity to use it as a performance instrument and so donít need to spend the $ for a Blair chanter. Would the A-pipe serve my purposes?
