Default New Pipemaker: Alexander Graham

Hey all, just saw these on ebay, seems we have a new pipemaker on the market.

Looks very interesting. Anyone ever heard of this guy?

Yep. He's a member of the forum and I've chatted with him a number of times about pipe turning, etc. I understand he is a master machinist but I'll let him speak up for himself.

Interesting treatment on the ring caps, or dare I say 'Alexander Graham bells'?

Nice profile on the drones, as well.

I know Alex, and have been to his workshop, which is just down the way from my home. He is a master craftsman who takes great pride in his work. He is not set up for the mass market, but making custom pipes. He also posts here a bit.

I have played a few of his sets, of differing bores, and they compared well with my Robertsons which I had brought as a control.

Some very nice-looking stuff there, in his FaceBook albums!

I wonder what bore design he's using, what woods. Looks like Mopane??

I sent a friend request.

Yes thatís a lovely looking set of pipes. In the FB album there is a photo of some drone segments in a bucket on the work bench. It looks to me like the tuning pegs are set up to not need hemp? I could be wrong about that. But if not its very reminiscent of Duncan MacRae.
