I recorded a practice session with the 466 Ackland in my D. Glen pipes, you can hear the whole thing here:

Thanks Patrick, I think together we have cracked it?
I have just had word from Sandy Campbell of The Mudmen, an Ontario Celtic rock band and former member of the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band.

" I tried the drone reeds yesterday and they were great. They were able to stay going with a harder chanter reed and I set them up very easily. Today I played them for a retiring Firefighter and they were great. I'll play them a bit longer at home and see what they do when they get wet but so far they are great "

I played with my Ackland A466 reeds for the first time in public at a pub gig last night, and they sounded FANTASTIC! I got several compliments on the sound! Here's a snippet the pub posted of local singer/songwriter Jim Gill and I playing "Born in the USA"

I had sent out a very small number of development 480 reeds and if any of you guys had been given or purchased any of these I will replace them.
If the bass body is under 3.5 inch long and the tenors under 3.25 and the tongues wider than .250, send em back please.

I have Terry’s 480’s in my Dunbar’s right now. They sound really really good. Glad I was able to grab a set. Thanks Terry.

If any piper is interested in the new Overtone bagpipe drone reeds, please check out Patrick McLaurin's Blog.

Patrick and I have spent the last 2 years developing a set of drone reeds that were, hopefully, not just another set of generic reeds.
During the last 2 years I began to appreciate the precision required to to produce an accurate repeatable product and needed to develop computer controlled equipment to achieve this. When I think back and trying to produce cane tongues!
Anyway, I did the engineering, Patrick has the talent.
