Maybe time for new Technopipes electronics...

I've had my Fagerstrom Technopipes since about 2007, they've seen quite a bit of both use and abuse over the years. Some battle scars too. But they've also done yeoman duty for me as well.

Finally the all in one Headphone Jack & On/Off switch has failed. So I've send an e-mail off to Mr Anders Fagerstrom asking about repairs and if it might be practical. Looking at the assembly of the device, I'm not tempted to attempt that on myown due to the smaller size of the solder joints made by machine processes. There are tighter tolerances than I'm willing to attempt also.

Yes, I can spring for a new set, but I'm a little bit of a tightwad too... That and I' like to splurge on good whiskeys single malt occasionally.

Has anyone else had interactions on getting the electronics repaired/replace. Just curious myself.

He repaired mine for a very reasonable price and the cost of shipping. It was remarkable.

I bought a Technochanter in 1996. It stopped working in 2013. Anders repaired it for the cost of postage.

I have had Fagerstrom Technopipes for over 8 years which I use EVERYDAY and droped in the bath twice and they have worked flawlessly. I do know that the jack is the weak link and expect someday it will need to be replaced!

I will mailing the old style technopipes back later this week. Mr Anders quote a very reasonable price for repairs. Even with shipping and possibly customs duties, quite a bargain versus buying a new one.

I had my technopipes stop working, and contacted Mr. Fagerstrom, who was very responsive over email. I shipped them overseas, and it turned out it just needed a battery.

Now, I may or may not deserve to wear a dunce cap for that one, but I had tried the batteries that I had in a new pack , and they didn't work, so I thought the chanter was fried. Turns out it was a whole pack of dead batteries! Sometimes the no-name brand is cheap for a reason. Anyway, Anders was nice about it and didn't charge me for his time.
Great product, I play it almost everyday at work to get in practice chanter time.

You shouldn't have to pay any duties because it's been previously imported.

When I sent my tenor drone tops to Scotland I marked the customs form "bagpipe parts to be repaired and returned" or something similar.
