Default Sinclair chanters

I know that Sinclair chanters are now marked with the initials AWS and then a number. Can anyone tell me when this practice began, please? I have an old Sinclair chanter with an ivory sole, and although the exact age probably can't be determined, knowing when they began marking them with AWS... would at least tell me that it wouldn't have been made after that date. Thank you
