Default Yanny or Laurel? An auditory test for your ears

OK, this is not (just) a titillating Internet viral meme:

Do you hear Yanny or Laurel?

There might be a relevant insight here for pipers with regards hearing capability, so before you click on the explanation below, have a listen to the short sound clip above and decide which of the two names you hear.

Actually, there is a better in-depth explanation here:

Well, I hear "yay eye" with stress on the "yay". Do I need medical attention?

Just the thought of medical attention must have done the trick. Now, half an hour leter, I hear "Yanni", or more like "Ianni".

There are two different audio clips making the rounds out there in internet land. One says Laurel (the one above) and there is another that clearly says Yanny in a higher pitched tone.

Greetings to All,

Well... and Hmmm.... !!! :)

I came... I saw... I listened.... and then... I read from the
second suggested link (KFC Radio)... and was there I
was asked: "What kind of monster doesn't hear Yanny?"

And, having done beaucoup work in the Audio Transmission
Game... and other than with the pipes!!... :) ... seems I must
now determine... what stripe on monstrosity... I have now
become... ?? ... and with the song... "Oh! Dear! What Can
the Matter Be?"... playing merrily in the background. :)

And as some love and flower-struck poet might have said:

"It's Laurel for me!
Laurel for me!
And just as far
As I can see!"

This... is all going to be... most interesting!! :)

How the Devil did anyone get "Yanny" out of it?! :)

Perhaps... went back to putting a bit too much port
in the Guinness. (This lovely drink is called "Blood
and Sand"... because... if... if... you can get through
even part of the third one... you wake up... a couple
of days later... in some ditch.... somewhere... and with
your mouth full of... wait for it... "Blood and Sand." :)

And as the Old Pipe Major... as was his wont... did...
and on more than one occasion... shout... and ask;

"Aye!! Ye can hear!!... but do ye listen?!"

Well... back now to the survey... and let us see... how this
all falls out... :)

Regards to All,

Pip01
