Default Gibson tenor drone playing like a kazoo

I have been using Gibson Stealth drone reeds for about a year. Today, the middle tenor sounded funny and I thought maybe it was seated loosely. What has actually happened: it won't strike in right - it plays a high note, like a kazoo, never going down to the tenor register. I've done all sorts of messing with the bridle and tuning screw... result being the same kazoo sound taking more or less air. My other tenor is working fine.

Any suggestions how I can fix?

Thanks,
Ken

Is the drone airtight? Is the reed seated firmly? Sounds like there might be a leak somewhere.

Sounds like the reed has gone bad. Is there a crack somewhere on the body?

Did dirt or something get between the tongue and the body? Sometimes simply sliding a dollar bill into the tongue and then carefully pulling it out will clean the tongue area out and other times one has to take the drone reed apart to carefully clean it. Make sure if you take it apart you place the tongue the exact same way.

Some makers will sell you new tongues only if it is the tongue that has gone south.

Make sure the tongue has not come off center. If this happens, even the slightest, it can cause a double tone. Correct this my carefully trying to align them, but be very careful. Also, I would swap the tenor reeds to see if this corrects the issue. Sometimes a reed for whatever likes to be on the outside and some like to be on the inside.
