Default Join in the "Battle's O'er" on November 11, 2018 - Worldwide

The College of Piping has requested that pipers worldwide "participate in mass playing of the retreat march, When the Battle’s O’er outside cathedrals and other locations 06:00 on Sunday, November 11, 2018". This date marks 100 years since 11/11/1918, Armistice Day.

I am uncertain whether the 6:00 is AM or PM. PM would be a more reasonable hour for pipers and listeners.

A more detailed description is at their website along with an email address to participate:

In military usage, 0600 hours can only refer to one time. (They don't use AM and PM.)

It's a noble thing! And meaningful to me personally as my grandfather fought in France in WWI and was severely wounded.

I fully intend to participate!

Though 0600 Greenwich time (perhaps the time intended) will be, what, 9pm here?

I believe that it's 6.00 am, as it's listed as 06.00 hours rather than 18.00 hours.

This reflects the time that the Armistice of Compiègne was agreed in a railway carriage.

It also reflects the time that many pipers would be more used to playing Johnnie Cope, but I assume that Battle's O'er has been chosen for it's title.

You don't get off that easy! It's 6am local time, worldwide.

GSM's Armistice of 1918 would be a great and appropriate add on tune.

Boghall had a rousing go at it with brass on their 2004 CD 'In Concert'

... Strikes me as a grand idea... all 'round...

... And privileged to be able to... thoughtfully... "join in"...

(As a Post Script, November the 11th, in 2018, in North
America, falls upon a Sunday, which shall help make the
planning of it a bit less difficult. ...Time to saddle up... )

If I play at 6:00a.m. local time, it's going to start a whole new battle.

You should be ok....residential trash pick up trucks start their obnoxious racket earlier and seem to get away with it week after week.

While 06:00 is when the armistice was signed, it went into effect at 11:00. I'd think that would be much more neighbor-friendly a time to pipe.

Yeh I don't think any local church would appreciate that. Well not the church itself, being empty, but the neighborhood around the church.

11am sounds miles better.
