I'd maybe suggest that instead of just sneaking up in the darkness, that reaching out to local churches and community and inviting a reporter might be a better way of doing things.

Your typical church (not all of course) is in the midst of services at 11 a.m. on a Sunday, so the decision to go with 6 starts to make more sense.

I am uncertain whether the 6:00 is AM or PM. PM would be a more reasonable hour for pipers and listeners.

Just to be clear, are we talking about a date 16 months away? Seems early to me

Read the entire article. I was unsure myself, but the last couple lines discuss playing them early in the morning

Greetings to All,

This thoughtful undertaking... this respectful marking
of such a day... may well place in the same category
as other reverentially commemorative ceremonies.

Yes. It will be soon in the day.
Yes. Some of us will have to arise early.
Yes. Proper kit & gear will be the standard.
Yes. It may well prove inconvenient for some.
Yes. Some will have cold wind and rain.
Yes. It may require outlay of some small funds.
And, any "compensation"... will only be personal...

Nonetheless... a worthy go... and very much in our
tradition of Remembrance... and Reverence... for
those who have gone before... and shown the way...

"That they may have parley with old folks of old affairs."

And... we are all invited... to saddle up... and get tore in...

Let us then... bestir ourselves...

Regards to All,

Pip01

I don't know about you all but I intend to be dressed in WWI uniform.

It seems to me that 1100 is a better time also. The slaughter went on for the 5 hours between the signing and the 11 o'clock hour.

Given that the suggestion has been made several times, it may be worth pointing out that in many Commonwealth countries, in particular the UK, the 1100 hour is widely observed with a two minute's silence, at which the pipes often play the Flowers of the Forest. Choosing 0600 was not an arbitrary or capricious choice.

As for the question of convenience, a few moments reflection on what we are being asked to commemorate should really put such questions to bed.
