Default Re: In-tune PC reed for Kron PCs?

What I would do, as an amateur reed maker , is trim the length of the reed by a hairs width each time then sand them a bit with a fine grade of wet and dry. It's not what your looking for but could possibly be a productive afternoon with a bunch of young ones and a bunch of reeds.
It's also quite satisfying to work on your own reed and get it as you like it. A. It of a personal connection .
Practice on your own a few times then give the guys a shot . It's an idea....
I also think it's a terrible idea to practice on an out of tune instrument..... the ear/brain connection needs to be developed and takes time and being out of tune is not going to help... just the opposite . Use a good tuner as a reference , but get them listening

Also you can remove a 1/8 section of shrink out at where the blades end. That way you can slide the blade section back or up to change the pitch. It works pretty well!

I’ve done this ...with a razor blade...cut a mere >mm wide ‘rubber band’ of the shrink wrap off to lengthen the blades/flatten the sound a tich or free up a reed that for some reason suddenly starts cutting out. ( I first drag a crisp dollar bill thru the blades to scrub away any built up gobbledy gook)
