I suspect that whether you catch covid-19 or not has nothing to do with being a piper.
I also doubt that being a piper has much if any influence on the likelihood of experiencing a 'cytokine storm' immune system inflammatory overreaction, which seems to be what kills people in the worst covid-19 cases.
I'd hypothesise that pipers, with overdeveloped lung function compared to normal people, might have improved chances of surviving if we do get covid-19 related massive pulmonary inflammation. But I wouldn't bet my life on it.

Agreed. First of all, the posit didn't relate to catching it or not; rather level of symptom severity.
You make an excellent point regarding the immune response, including a 'cytokine storm'. As we know, and as with other afflictions (e.g., influenza), many do not realize that it's generally the immune response that does the damage (or killing). Thanks for the input and medical insight.

Of course MAGIC strawberries eaten on the back of a unicorn while reciting Coleridge's Xanadu (Kublai Khan) backward under a full moon may have a palliative effect. If I am not mistaken, the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology is carrying out preliminary field trials. Or at least thinking about it. Or maybe someone made a humorous comment to that end. Anyway, they ARE enjoying the strawberries stocked up for the trials.

Hard to say, I guess.
