Default New Remo Cybermax Heads and Old Premiers

I have noticed that the new Remo Cybermax heads do not fit the older HTS-700 and HTS-200 drums very well. I can tighten the head down to a certain point and then the head bolt refuses to go any farther, but the head has not been taken to maximum tightness. Continuing to tighten beyond this point results in broken head bolts.

I have had to resort to filing and sanding the outside of the tone ring of the drum to remove paint and metal just to get these heads to fit properly.

I am thinking of taking all the tone rings to a machine shop to have them machined to the proper dimensions.

Is anybody else experiencing this and how are you handling it?

There are two different size Remo 14-inch heads. Do a little research and make sure to get the right ones for your older drums.

KS-0514-PR The Cybermax® White Premier 14.071" diameter
KS-0524-00 The Cybermax® White drumhead 13" or 14"

I was shipped the KS052400 heads. Upon phoning the dealer I was told "This is a universal head that we have had specially made due to the high breakage of the -PR heads and should fit on HTS-700's."

Well it doesn't.

What has been your experience, can you still get the KS0514PR heads?

My older Premier luckily fits the 0524, but I wanted to make sure. Maybe start at DrumsPlus. They at least recognize the difference, unlike most local shops when they look through the catalog.

Tom,

There are still two separate diameter white Cybermax heads advertised on the Remo website.
