Default Glen Campbell, piper

RIP Glen Campbell, I never knew he was a piper.

I pipe for a golf tournament every year out here and Glen Campbell played in it a few times. I lead each fivesome across a bridge after they tee off and get their photos taken. He used to ask if I had any good chanter reeds and I gave him what I had with me.

One year he asked, "You play Amazing Grace in Eb don't you?" I told him I did and he said, "Let's have that one." His group teed off and I fired up. As we marched across the bridge he sang behind me. What a great moment and what a nice man. I was sorry to hear of his troubles with Alzheimers and his passing.

Chris, thanks for the videos. Nice. He was comfortable with his pipes, something you don't see often with famous people.

Aaron, great stories! (Hope you are well!)

He was also a member of the loose-knit group of studio musicians referred to as "The Wrecking Crew".
