Default Piobaireachd as Rock?

Here's an original rock tune based on the story of MacCrimmon and the silver chanter, built around the Piobaireachd tune Cave of Gold.

https://soundcloud.com/burnetpiper/12-cave-of-gold

I'm playing the pipes, guitar and bass. A friend of mine is singing and playing the drums. This was recorded using digital equipment and sharing files back and forth until all the parts were laid down. Then I did the mixing/mastering and adding sound effects, etc.

The pipes are 1960's Lawries w/the original Lawrie blackwood chanter. Don't remember about the reeds, but probably Henderson Harmonics in the drones and Ross in the chanter. The bag is a Bannatyne hybrid. The guitar is an Ibanez Roadstar II, the bass is a Dean, and the drums are from a Roland electronic kit.

Enjoy!

Cool song.

Have you listened to this track by Breabach? I thought of it when I was listening to this.

That's a cool take on that tune. I had not heard it, so thanks for the link!

Seems I recall that the Wicked Tinkers gave "...Squinting Patrick.." a go on one of their albums.

Well, I thought it was going to be rubbish, but I quite enjoyed listening to it. Crunluath not quite on the beat when pipes come back in is small beer. Pibrock eh :-)
