Default Playing "Taps"

Greetings to All,

Having played an inordinate number of U.S. (and other
national) military funeral and memorial services... and
having played the requested "Taps" for many of these...
last night... in that dreamy "half-sleep" that sometimes
befalls us before we finally drift off... I was suddenly in
remembrance of one service in which I played "Taps"
as the last part of the service... and I suddenly found
that this "protocol" question was suddenly upon me...

Do any here ever play the last line... "God is nigh."...
a second (and final) time... and as a haunting reprise...
for the ending?

I never have... but last night... I suddenly heard it in my
half-sleep... and this morning am curious if it is correct...
and is allowed... and if any here have ever played that
last line a second.. and final... time...

All thoughts and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Regards to All,

My friends all know,
With what a brave carouse...

I've many times heard two bugles play 'echo Taps'...and the last phrase is repeated (echoed)...in a dreamy state that could pass as the way it should be always.

I'm pretty sure the words are a much later addition to the tune, but i can't see any reason not to play the end part again, slower, as you suggest.
I've only played Taps on bagpipes once, for a military funeral where the Marine honor guard had only a boombox, so , when they asked if I could could play it, I did.

Since then, If I know Taps is expected, I bring a bugle- a real one, not a cyberbugle or whatever those pre-recorded electronic things are called- on which to play it.
