Default I.D. Cover sketch on S. Jones tutor

Can anyone I.D. the subject sketch? My 1976 issue of the Sandy Jones tutor sports a cover sketch of a ‘Jacobite-ish’ looking gentleman with a set of ‘some kind’ of bagpipes laying next to him. Studying the picture today....for no reason...I noted that there is also what looks like a VERY..long blowstick draped in his lap.
Anyone know more about this chap? The artist? The ‘bagpipes’...the extra blowstick....

Not familiar with the book but, looking it up on the internet, I believe that the 'blowstick' in his lap is actually meant to be his Dirk (not to be confused with a part of his anatomy) and the pipes look like pipes as depicted in late 17th and early 18th century drawings/paintings. Is there no note in the book concerning the cover illustration?

Thx....good catch about maybe it being a dirk..... the Pipes ..yeah I was kind of guessing in that vein but not so interested to look it up.
No reference in the book as to the cover picture ..only presumably the artis name Neary... I googled the PM Sandy Jones tutor...the pictures that popped up showed the cover I’m referencing....

I can see how the dark area looks like it could be a bag but I think it's meant to be shadow inside his tunic which is tented up over his plaid which is in the original highland style down over the waist belt. If you look above the bag of the pipes on his left side you can see the basket handle of his broadsword so the fellow is fully armed in highland style though I can't see where the blade of his sword is meant to be.

Compare the design of the pipes and dirk in this well known painting.

I'd be willing to bet that the chap who drew the sketch drew on this painting or one similar for his historical details.
