Default 25th Jan Tattle

Having had a late cancellation for the 25th, I happily accepted a late request to play at a Burns Party on the 25th

I arrived at a huge gated manned estate where in the darkness, I accidentally drove against their one way system in my hunt for the venue

An escort appeared by magic and took me to the correct building where I played outside to welcome guests

An electric buggy then took me through the night to another venue where a long table was set up for the dinner guests who eventually arrived and took their seats

"When is the haggis ceremony?" I thought I would mention"

"Haggis?" said the Manager "Mrs Burns never ordered haggis for her Birthday Dinner"

And I was just commenting to Roger this morning that we'd managed to get to the 27th January without any posts on BDF about Burns Night experiences..........and that's still the case! Well done to all. Now, let's see if we can achieve the same regarding St Patrick's!

Challenge accepted.
I played a Burns Night for the British Officers Club of New England Friday night at the Union Club on Park Street by Boston Common and the State House. As I arrived, there was another piper standing in the doorway-Ian Massie. It turns out there were two Burns Night events in the building that night.

A quote from an email from the club secretary who hired me:

Bob,

Thank you for your work last night. I’ve received several emails today commenting upon the high standard of the piping.

Funny you should mention playing again. How does Friday November 8th sound? That’s our Armistice Dinner, again at the Union Club.

So, I guess it went well ;-)

The relief of it not being a double booking eh

By coincidence, Roddy and I were playing at different functions but in the same venue the Tuesday before Burns

We joined forces to pipe the guests in before parting company

Then later, as I left the venue to head home, I could hear Roddy running out of Burns tunes

About St. Paddy's day.... Got any Castle Knappogue to lubricate the fingers with before hand?
