Default Re: Glencoe Canada Bagpipes????

My first Bagpipe was a Glencoe, in fact I still have it. My pipes were purchased around 1980 from a small dealer in Minnesota, who sourced them from Scott's Highland Services Ltd. in London, Ontario, Canada. It's my understanding that they were made by Matt Marshall who was a Lawrie turner in Scotland who immigrated to canada in the 1970s and set up shop in his home. I also remember hearing that the Glencoe was a copy of a fine set of 1920 Lawries that Mr. Marshall particularly fancied. My set had nickel silver Lawrie tapered ferrules with plastic drone tops and projecting mounts. Around 8 years ago I had the Dunbar Shop in Saint Catherines Ontario, Canada go clear through them, bringing them back to sparkling new condition and fitting with engraved nickel ferrules, slides and drone tops along with a new Dunbar blackwood chanter. The old blow pipe was in bad shape so they copied it, but with a larger bore than the original. A video of me playing "Amazing Grace" with the Glencoe's at an honor flight send off may be viewed at www.iowabagpiper.com
