Default New Fagerstrom Techopipes - "Smallpipe" Sound Option

FWIW, I have the new Fagerstrom electronic Techopipes, i.e. the ones with options for drones, metronome, GHB sound vs. SSP sound. I love the Techopipes, especially the GHB sound, which is fairly authentic.

Be forwarned, though, that the "smallpipe" sound is pretty wimpy. Sounds like PC sound sample with drones. None of the richness and depth of the real thing.

Of course, my friend Kevin might love the sound.

To be clear and fair, I should note that the "smallpipe" sound is quite pleasant, just not particularly authentic. It would still make a fine practice tool.

Nope......not me.....not sayin' a thing

I was wondering how the Technopipes sounded. I still travel with my old Fagerstrom chanter - even when TSA looks at it funny. Thanks for the input Matt.

How well, in your opinion, does it compare with the Deger chanter?

I have not heard enough Degers long enough to really comment. Perhaps others can help out.

There are samples on the website - http://www.technopipes.com/samples.html

From these the GHB doesn't sound bad and to the untrained ear the NSP is OK ... the SSP is indeed like a PC sample with drones !

NSP? I don't think there's an NSP function. At least not on my Technopipes.

It would just be a keyless chanter with an octave range if it is.

Have to say my first thought on hearing the sample was that it was the return of the Stylophone......
