Default Karen Turpen, wife of the late Zudupiper

For those who fondly remember the late Dave Turpen, aka Zudupiper on these forums and its predecessor... I'm posting to let you know that his lovely wife Karen Turpen just passed away. Memorial service details follow. I'll be piping and anyone who wishes can also pipe, let me know. Karen was smart, funny, and made Dave very happy in their short time together, and she always graciously allowed Dave to gallivant about the Highland Games with me, who she called his "piping wife." Please keep their daughter Katie in your prayers.

The service will be held at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, 48 Cottage Road, Windham, ME 04062 on February 9th at 11:30am.

Laura, thanks so much for sharing. Such a shame. Dave died young. Sounds like that's the case with his wife too. Dave was super helpful when I first began piping in the 1990s. I'm glad to hear that his wife was very supportive of his endeavors, so thanks go to her too.

Sad.

You are quite welcome Andrew. I know the BDF community was important to Dave... and I'm not surprised by your story, that was just the kind of guy he was. His adult daughter is equally lovely.

I was fortunate in meeting Dave through the old Rec.Musicmakers.bagpipes group and Pipers-L even before these forums, and to have spent some time with him at a couple of local Highland Games. He was for his slogan "Putting The Fun In Funerals". I won't be able to attend Karen's funeral, but I'll play a tune for the both of them.

I have a T-shirt around, "Piobaireachd - If you can't say it, you can't play it!", I'm almost positive that I purchased it from Dave T.
