Glad to see someone else is prepared. Our "last real estate" is just up the hill from my wife's family. We bought the plot and had the stone set up in advance because we didn't want to burden someone else with it. Only the end dates need to be inscribed when the time comes. When that picture was taken, our son was home from the Navy on a visit so we visited the family plots and played over them both.

I want this friend of mine, a fantastic jazz clarinetist, to play with a small combo

St James Infirmary
New Orleans
Lazy River
Closer Walk
Stranger on the Shore
Over the Rainbow

I've heard him play these hundreds of times... once more for me, eh?

Greetings to All,

As the old custom goes... a slow tune up th'
hill... and a Quick Step down...

And up to th' diggings... "A Man's a Man For
A' That"... strikes my fancy...

And th' down... well... several come to mind...
but two most prominent are... "The Minstrel
Boy"... and "The Limerick Rake"... ("The Rakes
of Kildare")... but then there is also... "Th' 42nd"...
and "Johnny Cope"... for "The Great Getting Up"...
on that morning!! :)

And the afterwards... in th' pub... be pleased
to kindly stay away... from the lamentations...

"Generally speaking" (because there have been
some remarkably dire sections thrown in... time
to time :) ... "generally speaking"... I've had a roarin'
grand time of it here... and am grateful for th' chance...
the opportunities... and the Time... that will have been
afforded... :)

Some songs... some poems... Kipling's "Tommy" comes
to mind. Good poem that. Give it a read... And some by
Robert Service... and "The Rubaiyat"... and pipe tunes!!...
and damned... if there may not be... some dancing!! :)

Maybe... may be... "The Parting Glass"... and "Auld Lang
Syne"... but leave it to th' people... and th' moment... and
try... to end on an upswing... :)

Regards... and happy outward travel... to All,

Pip01

I definitely want piper friends, and pipes at my memorial service.

I want to be cremated, but I still want a casket at the memorial. And in it, I want somebody to put an MP3 player of some sort, and about halfway through the service, have it start playing Pop Goes The Weasel, right up to the point where the weasel should pop out, and then just stop.

The anticipation should be palpable.

Prediction:

Piper wants real bagpipe tunes at funeral service. Family hires Street Band Pipe Major. Video plays on YouTube for the next thirty years.

Cheers -

Highway to Hell is playable on the pipes. Makes me wonder if Light My Fire and Another One Bites the Dust are.

I have asked my son to have John Prine's Please Dont Bury Me at my funeral and then I hope my friends have a huge jam session.
